Batlefield 1943 Quick Review (PSN)

Considering I am a huge fan of most Battlefield games, I decided to get in on the 1943 action this past week.  While the game is certainly good, it lacks in enough areas to warrant concern for some of the extrememly high reviews it has been receiving on numerous sites.

$15 is a steep price for a game that has no offline modes, but it could be worth it to some.  Frostbite Engine + Fairly Destructable Environments + Fast-paced Action = an interesting game.

Presentation

Battlefield 1943 is lean on features, but it offers enough to keep you busy for long periods of time.  If you are a fan of Battlefield: Bad Company, you will transition into this game with no surprises.  The presentation in this game is fast-paced and enjoyable.

Graphics

For $15, you can’t ask for more…

Gameplay

You’re basically looking at a streamlined multiplayer game that doesn’t really offer us anything new.  The gameplay is extremely fun, but I found myself wishing I was playing Bad Company instead.  The 1943 setting is the only thing I found to be really interesting.

Sound

The sound is surprisingly good for a cheap downloadable game.

Value

A bit over-priced for something that has no offline modes.  For $10, it would be a real deal though.

In the End…

In the end, Battlefield 1943 is a game that added much-needed depth to the PSN lineup and I was pleased with my experience.  I’ll be honest and say that I downloaded the game from a friend.  I doubt I’d pay $15 for something like this when you can pick up equal or better shooters for $20 these days in stores.

7.5/10

“Fast-paced” is not how I would describe this game. It takes way to long to find anybody after you spawn, and even if you manage to get a vehicle, all enemies are a couple of boring minutes away.

I guess it depends on your style of play. I typically like to attack from a distance. By fast=paced, I guess I was talking more about how its quick to get in or out of a match.
