The Five Most Underrated and/or Unappreciated PS3 Games
Posted by Will Snizek in Sony PS3, Video Games on August 31st, 2009
Some people claim that the PS3 game library is weak compared to the Xbox 360, but this could be due to the fact that many titles are being completely overlooked by consumers. I can think of many games that are either underrated or unappreciated for one reason or another. Here’s my list of the five most underrated and/or unappreciated PS3 games:

Folklore (Underrated by 10%)
Folklore is one of the best RPGs on the PS3 and nobody seems to care about it. Folklore was released in the Fall of 2007 and almost instantly vanished from the minds of gamers. This is also one of the few games to take advantage of Sixaxis in a memorable way. It’s only about 15-17 hours long but it has an amazing look and quality presentation value. I believe that Folklore was simply released at the wrong time and received some less than favorable reviews. The only possible reason I can see not to buy it is the lack of trophy whore support, but if you don’t care about trophies, there’s no reason in the world not to buy this game. I saw it in a Wal-Mart not too long ago for $15. Folklore currently has a 75/100 metascore, but deserves something closer to 85/100.

Top Ten Wal-Mart PS3 Game Sales (Online) 8/20
Posted by Will Snizek in Sony PS3, Video Games on August 20th, 2009

Wondering what the top sales are at Wal-Mart? Here they are:
- Madden 10
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (pre-order)
- Rock Band 2
- NCAA Football 10
- Batman: Arkham Asylum (pre-order)
- UFC: Undisputed 2009
- inFamous
- The Beatles: Rock Band (pre-order)
- Fight Night Round 4
- Call of Duty: World at War
I’m a little surprised to see COD:WAW still in the top 10, but the other games were no surprise to me.

Burnout Paradise: I Need Help Getting Final Trophy
Posted by Will Snizek in Sony PS3, Video Games on August 11th, 2009

I am one trophy away from getting the platinum in Burnout Paradise, yet is seems like it’s almost impossible to get the “8 Players meet in the Wildcats’ Baseball Stadium” trophy. If you have the game and would like to help me out, add me on PSN. My name on there is “kezins”. If you help me with this one, I’ll return the favor!

We haven’t heard much about the game other than the fact it isn’t supposed to be all that great. We’ll probably be reviewing it soon, so an open mind will be something I keep until I get my hands on it.
Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Review (Sony PS3)
Posted by Bill Molina in Game Reviews, PC on July 30th, 2009

If you’re a Naruto fan, you may be a bit disappointed, if you’re a gamer you will be let down, and if you’re a Naruto fan and a gamer, you will be both. Although Cyberconnect2 created a simple and artistic fighter for the PS3, they have failed at creating a true tribute to the popular Naruto series, as fans of the show will easily be able to pick apart where the game obviously fails, and gamers will not have much fun.
‘Soul Breeding’ Game Possibly Headed Stateside
Posted by Will Snizek in Sony PS3, Video Games, Xbox 360 on July 28th, 2009

It looks like the Japanese game ‘Soul Breeding’ could be headed to North America. According to Kotaku, “Record of Agarest War, the “soul breeding” Japanese strategy RPG” could be headed to the Xbox 360 and Sony PS3 stateside. I’m a little surpised considering games like this rarely make it to the states, but it could be a much-needed and unusual addition to our game libraries. From the looks of all the images I have seen so far, the game could be a typical pervy Japanese title, but who’s complaining?
The Force Unleashed Getting PS3 Trophies *Updated*
Posted by Will Snizek in Sony PS3, Video Games on July 25th, 2009
*UPDATE* We will be getting a new special version of The Force Unleashed this fall that will include the original game, all DLC and a new Hoth level where you face off against Luke Skywalker. Unfortunately, the original game will not be patched…
One bit of great news I heard today is that The Force Unleashed for the PS3 will be getting an update that includes trophy support. We don’t have any official word yet, but this is information Aaron received from ComicCon gossip, so it must be true! Its a shame I already got rid of the game. I might have to pick it up again…

What I’m Playing this Weekend
Posted by Will Snizek in Sony PS3, Video Games on July 24th, 2009
There will always be plenty of games for me to play, but the challenge is figuring out which ones I can fit into my tight schedule. This weekend, I was thinking about revisiting Killzone 2 and BioShock on the PS3. I already beat BioShock on the Xbox 360, but the game is certainly worth playing through again.

Noby Noby Boy Review (PS3)
Posted by Aaron Mazza in Game Reviews on June 17th, 2009

Do you like the weird and twisted? How about the unique and strange? Well Noby Noby Boy is the perfect game for you. The game is a PS3 exclusive available only via the PSN for a low price of $5. It involves a blob-like creature that eats and stretches to great lengths. That’s about the only thing to do in the game but it does get a little more involved.
The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (PS3 Review)
Posted by Will Snizek in Game Reviews on May 21st, 2009

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC)
Developer: Starbreeze Studios/Tigon Studios
Publisher: Atari
Released: April 7, 2009
MSRP: $59.99
We finally got the chance to play the new Riddick game (PS3 version) and can definitely say its worth picking up. This title has certainly been under-rated by many sites. For whatever reason, the Microsoft Gods didn’t include Escape From Butcher Bay on their backwards compatibility list, but Assault on Dark Athena gives you another chance to play the game. It’s basically the same great game with polished graphics and sound. If you somehow missed this title, you simply need to buy Assault on Dark Athena. Escape From Butcher Bay was one of my picks for “top 5 Xbox games”…
Sony and Microsoft Don’t Need To Compete With Nintendo
Posted by Will Snizek in Nintendo Wii, Sony PS3, Video Games, Xbox 360 on May 17th, 2009

Next month we will probably see Microsoft and Sony unveil new control schemes that mimic the motion madness that is the Nintendo Wii. I certainly understand that Microsoft and Sony believe they are in competition with the Wii, but they are mistaken. The Wii has become a cultural phenom and sales records of the system are partially due to the fact that non-gamers were caught up in the frenzy. With that said, I think it’s a huge mistake for Sony and Microsoft to compete with the Wii. Instead of competing, they need to improve on what they are the best at. It’s too late in the ball game anyway to expect people to get excited about motion controls on the 360 and PS3.
The Most Over-Hyped Game In My Collection Is…
Posted by Will Snizek in Sony PS3, Video Games on April 26th, 2009

Killzone 2 for the PS3 is currently the most over-hyped and over-rated video game I own. I bought it launch week and have only played the game a couple times. I really loved the graphics and thought the lighting effects were really good, but this wasn’t the 10/10 and 9.5/10 game everyone said it was going to be. The controls are a little funky and aiming flat out sucks. What really bothers me is the fact that this could have been a truly epic game for me, but the controls are the main aspect I really just can’t get around. I was annoyed with the game after a few hours on it. That rarely happens with FPS games and me. Whenever I do load up the game, I find myself wishing I was just playing some Resistance or Halo instead.
The only reason I hold on to it is in hopes that I somehow get motivated to play through the entire game and find some redeeming factors. Right now, I simply don’t have the motivation or interest in Killzone 2. I certainly feel like it’s the most over-hyped game in my collection at this time.
