TMNT: Turtles In Time Re-Shelled Review (360, XBLA)

tmnt_turtles_in_time_reshelled

The re-release of this popular TMNT game shows one thing, I’m still a sucker for the Ninja Turtle games. This beat’em up plays just like the other TMNT Arcade game that’s already been out on XBLA, smash your way to the end boss. The difference between the two is this new “re-shelled” version has a graphics upgrade, the ability to attack in 8 directions, and more options to play around with.

‘Splosion Man Review (360, XBLA)

splosionman

I enjoy platforming games so I was quite excited to hear that ‘Splosion Man was a pure platforming title on XBLA. Bypassing the demo completely, I downloaded the game straight to my 360 based on some recommendations from other gamers I know. The verdict…they were right about ‘Splosion Man. It lived up to the pure platforming fun I was expecting. But they are two sides to every coin.

Mario Kart Review (Nintendo Wii)

mario-kart-mario

Speeding your kart down the road in first place, you start power sliding into the last turn of the course, the finish line is finally in view, when suddenly your hit by a red turtle shell which sends you spinning out of control, catching me out of the corner of your eye, glancing back at you as I turbo boost out of the turn and across the finish line taking first place. Mario Kart Wii drives into homes all across the world and is the best game in the franchise to date.

Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Review (Sony PS3)

Naruto

If you’re a Naruto fan, you may be a bit disappointed, if you’re a gamer you will be let down, and if you’re a Naruto fan and a gamer, you will be both. Although Cyberconnect2 created a simple and artistic fighter for the PS3, they have failed at creating a true tribute to the popular Naruto series, as fans of the show will easily be able to pick apart where the game obviously fails, and gamers will not have much fun.

Mirror’s Edge Review (PS3, Xbox360)

me

On a demo interest and cheap sale price, I decided to pick up Mirror’s Edge recently. What can I say about this game that hasn’t already been said? Well, I can say that I hated over half of it and more often than not, I wanted to fling the disc out of the windows. I don’t think that’s been said yet. It’s time to go into detail why I wanted to hold a knife’s edge to the throats of its creators.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (PS3 Review)

banner

Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC)

Developer: Starbreeze Studios/Tigon Studios

Publisher: Atari

Released: April 7, 2009

MSRP: $59.99

We finally got the chance to play the new Riddick game (PS3 version) and can definitely say its worth picking up.  This title has certainly been under-rated by many sites.  For whatever reason, the Microsoft Gods didn’t include Escape From Butcher Bay on their backwards compatibility list, but Assault on Dark Athena gives you another chance to play the game.  It’s basically the same great game with polished graphics and sound.  If you somehow missed this title, you simply need to buy Assault on Dark Athena.  Escape From Butcher Bay was one of my picks for “top 5 Xbox games”…

Rag Doll Kung Fu: Grind My Gears: A Review Rant (PS3)

rag

I recently downloaded Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic via a free PSN promotion a few days ago. After spending some time with it, I can say this game is severely flawed. Controls, gameplay, story - wrong, wrong, wrong. While not completely horrid, there’s so much that could have been perfected. Let’s take a closer look and see why these fists of plastic need to be recycled. Read the rest of this entry »

Star Ocean Impressions (Xbox 360) Part II

star-ocean-the-last-hope-1

A little time has passed since my initial impressions of the game and my opinions have certainly changed in some ways.  I criticized the game for its simple battle mechanics, but once you get deeper into the story, battle becomes a little more intricate.  As you gain new abilities and learn everything there is to know about the battle system, it certainly becomes a little better.  I didn’t face any kind of challenge in battles until I was around level 29.

Star Ocean Impressions (Xbox 360) Part 1

star-ocean-the-last-hope-1

I finally decided to pick up ‘Star Ocean: The Last Hope’ for the Xbox 360.  I had my reservations concerning the title, but decided that I’d probably enjoy the game and $60 would more than likely be worth it.  Here are my initial impressions after five hours of gameplay:

After seven hours of gameplay, I can say that I’m not impressed with the title.  I’m still holding out hope that the game will eventually grow on me like most good RPGs do.  So far I don’t feel any kind of emotional attachment to the story or characters like I usually do with epic Square games.  The combat system is a little weird and I don’t feel like I need to use my brains to play the game.  I’m often attracted to RPGs because they require actual strategy and actual thinking.  Something is certainly missing with this game.

Godfather II Multiplayer Review

news1_1
Will gave the single-player aspect of Godfather II a good review but, personally, it doesn’t stack up and it’s the most evident when you hit the online pavement with your made men. Read the rest of this entry »
